Supercar & Enclosed Vehicle Transport: How It's Done Properly
Race cars, supercars, classics, show cars and motorbikes don't travel like ordinary stock. Low ground clearance, soft-compound tyres, exposed splitters and exhausts, one-off paintwork — each one needs its own plan, and the wrong transporter can turn a straightforward move into an expensive mistake.
Why these vehicles need special handling
Ordinary open-carrier transport is built for daily-driver cars, bakkies and SUVs — vehicles that can drive up a standard ramp and tolerate exposure to weather and road debris. High-value and specialist vehicles often can't do either safely. A low front splitter can catch on a standard ramp angle. Slick or semi-slick tyres don't grip the same way road tyres do. And paintwork on a classic or show car shows every stone chip an open carrier can't fully prevent.
What proper enclosed transport looks like
The right equipment
A fully enclosed carrier or a covered single-vehicle trailer, with hydraulic tail-lifts or low-angle ramps suited to low-clearance vehicles, and soft straps and wheel nets — never chains over bodywork.
Condition photographed before loading
Every panel photographed before the doors close, so there's a clear record of the vehicle's condition and no dispute about anything that happened before it left.
Out of sight, out of the weather
The vehicle travels enclosed for the full journey — protected from stone chips, rain, and prying eyes, which matters for anything rare, valuable, or simply not insured for road exposure.
Handed over in person
Direct to the track, showroom, auction floor, collector or workshop, signed off against the same photo record taken at pickup.
Questions worth asking before you book
- Is this an open carrier or a genuinely enclosed/covered trailer?
- Will the vehicle be photographed before loading?
- What insurance applies specifically to this vehicle's value?
- Who physically hands the vehicle over on delivery?
- Does the driver have experience with low-clearance or non-runner vehicles?
At Right Now Logix, we move race cars, supercars, classics, show cars, motorbikes and non-runners across South Africa using fully enclosed carriers and covered single-vehicle trailers — condition-photographed and handed over in person, every time.
